I have always liked doing crafts. Whether it was plastic lanyard bracelets, cross-stitch, paint-by-number, crocheting potholders - if you can think of a childhood craft project, I was into it. When I got older, I didn't craft as much...but when I went to college I started knitting scarves. It was something soothing to do instead of studying for psychology, biology, Spanish or chemistry during my freshman semester. I really liked knitting, but I haven't gotten any better at it - I'm still making scarves and recently made fingerless gloves...but those were just rectangles sewn together!!!
Anyways.
My fabulous neighbor K is a stay-at-home-work-part-time-craft-and-cook-all-the-time mom and both she and my mother have inspired me to get back to crafting...mostly because I can't handle ANOTHER house project. (Although I DID just tell M that we definitely need to replace the full-bath's vanity...)
Anyway, here are a few projects I'm working on - with links to the place I originally saw them/got directions. I can't wait until I have more time to craft more often!!
Here is a star wreath I made for our front door. It's modified from the one seen here at *Remodelaholic.
Here is an outdoor rug I made from burlap, modified from here at Ohdeedoh. I ran a stitch along the edges to cut down on fraying, then painted the design on using a K-made stencil (thanks K!). I LOVE how it turned out. I want to stencil EVERYTHING this design!
Lastly, I'm making this wreath from Living With Lindsay, but I am only this far... Librarians-in-training and bibliophiles, PLEASE don't come after me - I'm using Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. After I read it. I didn't want to pass it along. The end.
Anyway, I'm working on some other stuff too, but right now I have to get blue modge podge off my fingers in time for work! Ciao!

Love the PP&Z use, actually - I wouldn't be ashamed to put some of Gramma's romance novels into a wreath, myself.
And the rug is so cute and such a great idea! It's not very thick though, huh? I was actually looking around at JoAnn's this morning at rug-friendly fabrics. I'm gonna try to DIY a rug for my room in Boston, but I NEED something thick and warm. The North demands it.

Ohhh I want to come craft! I just finished redoing a wine rack I bought from a consignment store. So fun to see the results. Love the rug!!
