Happy Monday!

The weather today is simply wonderful, and I've opened all the windows in my house! I just passed my LAST med-surge nursing test (not with a great grade...but HEY anything above an 80 is passing!), I have a hair appointment set for Thursday, I finally get to see the new modern art museum tonight AND book club is on Wednesday!!! YAY AWESOMENESS! And I get to finally watch Avatar while I paint my $5 table from the Goodwill Re-Store. =) Life is good at the moment and I'm just going to sit back and chill with it.

On a book note, I finished
The Road (did I already tell you that?) and As I Lay Dying. Finally reading Faulkner made me realize that I shouldn't be intimidated by any writer. I have been putting off Faulkner for YEARS (and I was an English major...) because I was intimidated and thought he would be absolutely boring. I was so pleasantly surprised! It was a wonderful novel - it was funny, sarcastic, biting and poignant. I just loved it. Thanks to S for suggesting that one.

AND M put up our ceiling fan in the kitchen. It looks three billion times better than that old piece of crap that has been hanging up there since we moved in. I can't tell you how big the smile was on my face when we took that old thing down!!! There is so much more to talk about, but I want to watch Avatar!

Keepin' it Short and Simple

That was my theme at work tonight. On another note, I have a TON OF SHIT TO DO, so this post shall be VERY SHORT.

I just bought "Hello" on iTunes...the GLEE version. =) I know Cory Monteith is super cute and all, and I know Jonathan Groff's character is all skeezy...but I LAV HIM. sighhhhh.
I also bought the GLEE version of "Like a Prayer." Bitchin.

Our friends had their baby and she is the sweetest thing I have EVER SEEN.

Our kitchen cart is DONE AND LOOKS AWESOME (pics to come).

Love y'all, but I gotta go...

(I wish I was here!!)

100 Ways to Get Kicked Out of Augusta National

(aka, Dani went to The Masters on Friday!!!)

So, M and I have a college friend who played in The Masters this past weekend. Graciously, he gave us tickets for Friday. We drove down to Augusta, Ga after work on Thursday and stayed at a friend's house. The next morning we had breakfast and headed over to Augusta National - which was like CHRISTMAS for M (seriously, that morning he woke up at about 7:30 and was rarin' to go). I, on the other hand, know very little about golf and didn't know what I was getting into - I just knew I was supposed to dress preppy.

Well, if you didn't know, Augusta National is the freaking creme a la creme of golf courses, and there are proper RULES to follow when you are a patron there. Like, don't bring in any alcohol or weapons or bags larger than 10" x 4" x 2" or hard chairs. BUT once you DO get in (and park in the free parking...which used to be a neighborhood, but they bought it to be a VERY large pretty parking lot) you can buy beer for about $3 and delicious sandwiches - egg salad, pimento cheese, the chub - for about $1.50. Yesh. These people aren't trying to gauge you...because they have more money than everyone else. They don't NEED your paltry coinage.

Anyway, during the day we kept coming up with ways to get kicked out of the course. It started really early when M wanted to not follow the path from Will Call to the security gates. The friend who drove us there told M that he should go ahead - and that we would tell him all about the day later on when we picked him up from jail. Ha!

Sooooooo here are just a FEW of the ways to get kicked out of Augusta National...

1. Have sex on the pine needles, or up against a pine tree.
2. Touch Tiger
3. Pretend to touch Tiger
4. Steal one of the turtles lounging on the fairway
5. Try to cross a fairway when the ropes are up
6. Skip in line at the golf shop or the concessions stand or the ATM or the bathroom
7. Fake your own press credentials
8. Bring in a toy gun
9. Clap when someone bogeys...or even makes par
10. Scream
11. Climb a tree
12. Try to go into the clubhouse without proper credentials
13. Run
14. Lie down on the ground
15. Steal someones "Masters" portable chair
16. Pick the flowers
17. Hide in the azalea bushes
18. Go swimming in the water hazard
19. Throw something on the green
20. Streak across the fairway

There are many, many, MANY more ways to (possibly) get kicked out, but there are twenty. There are even more ways for the security and other patrons to get really pissed at you (like climb across 10 people to sit in the stands for only one hole...), but I won't get into all that here.

Despite my basic knowledge of golf, it was a REALLY beautiful course and I'm very thankful for the opportunity. Hopefully this can become a tradition!!!

Woot Woot Bitches!

I got an A on my test! I got a FREAKING A!!! That is my second A of nursing school so WHAT UP.

The slightly sheepish thing is... I am not quite sure how I pulled the A out of my ass. It was a mean test - not really hard per se, but just mean. The questions stretched back to material from the first and second exams (which is LEGAL, but not COOL) and only had two medication questions - when we had a BAJILLION meds to study. Sooooo mostly I was lucky. But I'll take lucky. Especially if lucky could continue through the ATI exam I have to take at the end of the semester - the test that counts towards getting the preceptorship that I want (aka not med surge). We shall see.

On another note, I taped off the kitchen cart and primed the tiny wooden strip that was left. Delicious. Perhaps I'll have enough time tomorrow to paint the first coat! It IS my LAST clinical of the semester and they told us we had NO PAPERWORK - so things seem to be going my way for the moment. I think I shall ride the wave.

On another note, from now on I think I'm going to end my non-picture posts with a loverly photo from my hard drive. =) Enjoy!

Dear Pickles,
Why are you so very delicious?
Love, the girl who has eaten 6 of you in the last 10 minutes

Dear Alabama,
Why are you so ass-backwards? Why are you trying to PADDLE high school students when they don't follow the dress code??? (See here)
Love, a southern girl who's a Yankee at heart

Dear Deacon,
Please stop rolling on your back all cute and then biting me when I pet you.
Love, your mommy

Dear Kate Gosslin,
You can't dance. Go home and be a mom.

Easter Brunch

Let me start off by saying that I really really really REALLY need to study. My test is on Wednesday and it's supposed to be the hardest one of the semester and I don't really care and I haven't really started studying. Sigh.

Mmmmk with THAT out of the way - Easter Brunch. It was horrific. We opened an hour early this morning, so I had to be there at 9 am...after I closed last night and got home at 12:30. Meh. I wasn't a happy camper this morning! SO much that I'm considering skipping class tomorrow. It's covering material that won't be on Wednesday's test...and I would LOVE to not get up at 6:45.

Anyway. I had a larger-than-normal section on a busier-than-normal day. I had a 10-seater table that turned three times, and three four-person booths. That is a lot of coffee and donuts. Talking about coffee...I spilled a full HOT cup on guy today. In front of his girlfriend. And his whole family. I wanted to die. I wanted to cry and die and scream and cry. He was fine...I even offered him ice and he was all "I promise I'm not burned." I didn't believe him. It was amazingly awful. At more than one point I just wanted to leave because I was soooooooo busy.

However, I did make more than $200. But I still need a vacation. Thankfully I have something way fun planned for Friday...if the weather cooperates.

K. Now I just need to get M to turn OFF THE SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS so I can study about respiratory diseases and medications. BLECH. I can't WAIT to get this over with and move onto pediatrics and maternity!!!
